Welcome to Iuvenis Veritatem

(in Latin: “youg truth”)

I am a young Catholic, and the purpose of this site is to gather statements and foundations that serve as the basis for my personal search for truth in today’s world, marked by relativism.

This is not meant to be a moralistic space where every aspect of life must necessarily have an absolute truth, but rather a place to seek honesty about the fundamental questions of existence and to find reasonably solid foundations.

My journey of faith

As a Catholic, I have always questioned certain teachings of the Church.
After a brief phase of Protestantization and modernization of my thoughts, when I returned to the Church seeking answers, I was impressed to discover that for all my doubts, the 2000-year-old Church has either a sober response or, when necessary, honestly admits mystery.

My motivation is twofold:

  1. To fight against my own inconsistencies and seek to live more consistently with what I believe, since the more I reflect, the more I see my hypocrisies.
  2. To combat the lies that were imposed on me about the Church during my formation.

The goal

The ultimate goal, of course, is to be happy!
But not in the way the world sells happiness today, reduced to cheap dopamine and an escape from responsibilities.

I seek the happiness that comes from the peace found in truth. I don’t want to be moralistic (in the negative sense of the word), nor lax. What I seek is temperance.

I like to think I am seeking the same peace that my grandparents and ancestors once achieved. Depending on your family background, you may understand what I mean: after much hard work and suffering, in a world of scarcity and limited access to information, they reached a wisdom that would make even the most educated of our age envious.

The site as an archive

This site will serve as a personal archive of foundations, as mentioned above, but it may also help readers build their own bases for better understanding reality.

The way I will present ideas is simple:

  • I will make statements;
  • I will develop arguments that support them.

The intention is to avoid excesses of “philosophese” or “theologese”, since I believe our ancestors reached their wisdom precisely through simplicity rather than erudition.

That said, I by no means consider erudition to be something negative; on the contrary, I believe that as Catholics we should actively pursue it. Unfortunately, we often bear the responsibility of neglecting knowledge, even though we live in an age of vast access to information, thinkers, philosophers, and saints whose works could deepen our faith and understanding.

About the sources

In addition, this will not be a space of “Bible fanaticism”.
There will naturally be references to Sacred Scripture, since it is central to my faith, but each premise will also be supported by logic and empirical foundations, so that the truth contained in the statements becomes more evident.

An invitation to dialogue

With that said, I hope this site may be useful to you, just as it has been helping me on my journey in search of the truth.

After all, what better use of the Internet than what it does best: sharing ideas!

If you have any point, suggestion, thanks, or even an objection to any of the premises, I would be honored to receive your thoughts at:

May we find the truth together.
